Life's Lessons

Okay, so as you know I've been feeling a bit emo lately. So I found this article randomly online and I really liked it, so I'm sharing... it really made me feel better when I read it... It's about the lessons we learn in life... Starting from when we are young, and going into as we get older... Anyway... Enjoy...

I've learned that I like my teacher because she cries when we sing "Silent Night".

I've learned that our dog doesn't want to eat my broccoli either.

I've learned that when I wave to people in the country, they stop what they are doing and wave back.

I've learned that just when I get my room the way I like it, Mom makes me clean it up again.

I've learned that if you want to cheer yourself up, you should try cheering someone else up.

I've learned that although it's hard to admit it, I'm secretly glad my parents are strict with me.

I've learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice.

I've learned that brushing my child's hair is one of life's great pleasures.

I've learned that wherever I go, the world's worst drivers have followed me there.

I've learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.

I've learned that there are people who love you dearly but just don't know how to show it.

I've learned that you can make some one's day by simply sending them a little note.

I've learned that the greater a person's sense of guilt, the greater his or her need to cast blame on others.

I've learned that children and grandparents are natural allies.

I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that singing "Amazing Grace" can lift my spirits for hours.

I've learned that motel mattresses are better on the side away from the phone.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that keeping a vegetable garden is worth a medicine cabinet full of pills.

I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you miss them terribly after they die.

I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.

I've learned that if you want to do something positive for your children, work to improve your marriage.

I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, the needs of others, your work, meeting new people, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

I've learned that whenever I decide something with kindness, I usually make the right decision.

I've learned that everyone can use a prayer.

I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch; holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Who do you see looking back? Is it the person you wanted to be? Or is there someone else you were meant to be? The person you should have been, but fell short of. Is someone telling you you can’t, or you won’t? Because you can. Believe that love is out there. Believe that dreams come true every day, because they do. Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money or fame or power. Sometimes happiness from good friends, family, and from the quiet nobility of leading a good life. So take a look in that mirror, and remind yourself to be happy. Because you deserve to be. Believe that! And believe that dreams come true every day. Because they do!

It Sounded Like A Good Idea At The Time
Okay, I’m going to quit my job, quit school and become a yoga instructor… Sounds like a plan eh?

Don’t worry, I’m just kidding… Although I am considering becoming a yoga instructor. I’ve been looking into it online through Yoga Fit and it doesn’t seem THAT hard… a little expensive, but not too difficult. It’s just like going to school for anything. You have your degrees and certifications that you have to go through… but most of the classes are weekend retreats that you can schedule whenever you want. There are five levels, you have to take an anatomy type of class, then you have to learn about Yoga for Kids and Yoga for Seniors. That’s it. Most of them are offered in Indy, but the last two aren’t offered anywhere in the state of Indiana. Level 4 is only offered in Washington State or Washington DC. And Level 5 is only offered in North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. They’re talking about offering the level 1 training course at the YMCA here in Warsaw, so if they do; I’m DEFINITELY signing up and getting started. I know, you guys probably think I’m nuts, but what can I say…

Anyway, in other news; life is boring as usual. The boss is on vacation right now, so I’m taking a mini vacation myself. But I’m driving myself bat shit crazy, as I usually tend to do on my vacations. Not much to do around my house, not much money to go anywhere. So thus I lack motivation to do what I want/need to do.

Why is it, the more things you NEED to do, the less you WANT to do anything! Ugh… Oh well… My June schedule is booking up fast, but come July my schedule relaxes a bit more… I’m hoping that on Wednesdays, starting in July, that I can start going to Fort Wayne once a week. I had such a good time at Amy’s party, and I always have a good time when I’m around my friends, that I need that as part of my therapy… I need socialization. I’m just that kind of person.

So anyway, that’s my plan thus far. We’ll see how it works out… I’m still working on July’s schedule and working around everyone’s vacations. But with the teenagers being out of school and wanting hours, I’m willing to give them mine and take a break, so I don’t burn myself out.

At the rate I’m going I should be done with my Internship by the end of September. My deadlines for most everything is by October 31st, so as long as I’m done with the internship by then, and down to my goal weight, then all will be right with the world… LOL

Anyway, I’m going back to my cleaning list now… Keep in touch!

Glee
Okay, I watched the pilot of this show and I thought "maybe". But then, the final scene won me over. I can't wait till this show comes out this fall... Here's where you can watch the pilot for yourself:

Here's the final song from the pilot. If this doesn't win you over, nothing will...

What's the Part of You That No One Sees?
The Part of You That No One Sees is Paranoid
You are balanced, peaceful, and sincere.
You're the type of person who goes along to get along.
And you're definitely afraid of rocking the boat.

Underneath it all, you fear your world falling apart.
You'll put up with a situation that you don't like in fear of changing it.
Disruptive and forceful people intimidate you - and sometimes exploit you.

What's Your Personality Type?
You Are An INTP
The Thinker

You are analytical and logical - and on a quest to learn everything you can.
Smart and complex, you always love a new intellectual challenge.
Your biggest pet peeve is people who slow you down with trivial chit chat.
A quiet maverick, you tend to ignore rules and authority whenever you feel like it.

In love, you are an easy person to fall for. But you're not an easy person to stay in love with.
Although you are quite flexible, you often come off as aloof or argumentative.

At work, you are both a logical and creative thinker. You are great at solving problems.
You would make an excellent mathematician, programmer, or professor.

How you see yourself: Creative, fair, and tough-minded

When other people don't get you, they see you as: arrogant, cold, and robotic

New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone had fun last night, but hopefully not so much fun that you don't even remember what you DID last night.

Anywhoo, here’s my 2008 (and 2007) recap and my resolutions for 2009:

Recap:

In 2007 I began trying to find myself. I started by finding out how others saw me, then figuring out how I saw myself. Finally at the end of 07 I decided it was time to love the things I loved about me and fix the things I didn’t love so much about me.

In 08 I decided it was time to get healthier. In December of 07 I gave up smoking… okay so I didn’t officially give it up, just kinda cut back at first. But now I’m completely smoke free. I also finally got over my fear of dentists and went to get a check up and a thorough cleaning. I even invested in a high end electric toothbrush to keep my chompers in good condition (Though I still don’t use it as often as I should).  I also started The Biggest Loser competition at work, and discovered through the program that this isn’t something I can do by myself. So I joined Weight Watchers to get the support I needed. I also got my doctor involved and I am seeing him every 3 months for him to keep up with my progress as well.

New Years Resolutions

My resolutions are to keep on the track I’ve started. I want to continue to lose weight. I want to lose 111 lbs by October 31st. I’m really trying to stick to the Weight Watcher’s program, so if you see me eating something (especially if it’s something that seems unhealthy) ask me how many points it is… because if I don’t have the answer, I probably shouldn’t be eating it. LOL.

I also want to “go green”. That’s my new goal on top of the “Healthy Steven” challenge is to go green. I know one of my goals for this is to go vegetarian. I feel that the cruelty to animals is too great and I want to do my part to prevent one animal from being killed. I also want to start taking my own bags to the grocery and give up bottled water for filtered tap water to save land fills. I know sounds ambitious but if I remember correctly, that’s what Adam and Cat told me when I said that I wanted to get healthier for ’08. It’s all a process. Just because it doesn’t happen in one year, doesn’t mean that it’s not a good resolution. Goals, especially this large take time and focus and determination. All of which I have in abundance.

Because I'm a Shameless Follower

The Rules:

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. You can also check out this post http://fabricdragon.livejournal.com/127623.html because she lists lots of charities you can craft for for the holidays. There's also a LJ group (holiday_wishes where folks post lists like this) And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. 4 new tires for my car so that mine don't go flat everytime the temp. drops below freezing.
2. A nice dinner with my three bestest friends. Just us "girls", drinks, and girl talk
3. A career that I love as much as I love my job
4. A personal trainer (to inspire MAKE me to go to the gym more often)
5. People to hang out with in Warsaw
6. A winter coat
7. An Amazon.com gift card would be nice
8. A Chinchilla (because they're SO CUTE)
9. The last 16 seasons of Power Rangers on DVD
10. My own place

Let's Cause Mayhem!

Okay, so I hate collection agencies as much as the next person, so I'm posting this for Don Henrie, who posted this on his MySpace page, and asked that people share the knowledge. So please read and follow the instructions... They deserve it!

Every morning I am called by a certain company called Receivables Performance Management (RPM) http://www. receivablesperformance. com/. They call my phone and ask for people that do not own my particular number. I am up during the night, and sleep during the day. I have asked repeatedly to please place my name on a do not call list and they say "Okay" as if they have one or they simply hang up on me or stay on the line and continue to be rude and play games, and they still call every morning. This has been going on since June. It has become highly aggravating and they do not seem to want to reason with me when I tell them that they keep calling and I have to tell them the same thing every morning. I do not owe these people anything, as I have found out through research upon the web that they are supposed to be some sort of collection agency. They don't ever call for Don Henrie, they call for Shane or Margarita or some other bumfucked name. No disrespect to Shane or Margarita or anybody else that has a bumfucked name. I simply want to go sleep and not hear any bumfucked names on my phone!!! I certainly do not want to be posting bulletins at whatever time in the daylight hours it is. I simply wish for these rude trouble making obnoxious callers from various locations to get a taste of their medicine is and what community REALLY is.

The main numbers that needs to be called is as follows to:
(425) 984-6246‎
503-292-2077
703-291-9039 ask for Carlos

I ask that you rip into them as much as possible. Take your anger for the day out on them... repeatedly. Everyday, because I am sure you can find it in your heart to do so.

Also, if anyone needs the address for this place because you just need it:

1930 220th St SE # 101
Bothell, WA 98021

or in if any of you are in Oregon:

10501 SE Main St # 200
Portland, OR 97222

Place as many anonymous calls to this company at all hours of the day and night if possible whenever and wherever you may be able to, BE SURE TO TELL THEM DON HENRIE SENT YOU. If you can pay them a visit, tell them I said "Greetings".

To further my cause here are the list of complaints against them:
http://phoneowner. info/Number. aspx/7032919039

I ask that you take this matter to heart because I know I am not the only person that has lost sleep due to this companies harassment. I would do the same thing for you, with honor, pride and a lot of joy.

Its 9:30 in the am and hopefully I can get some sleep because I am scheduled to fly out to New York in the morning.

I ask that you re-post this message as many times as possible. I want to see this company regret the day they told me they didn't care and laughed in my face saying that the do not call list does not apply to them because they are not a telemarketing company.

~Until then
D.

The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel
One of my new favorite songs...

The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing
But I
I love it when you read to me
And you
You can read me anything

The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything

The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we're all too young to know
But I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings

Fun Times!
If you can read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad
BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.
